It is often seen that people tend to become extremely lazy throughout winters which results in heath issues. However, it is essential to preserve a healthy diet and lifestyle during cold weathers as well.
Ayurveda, the traditional therapeutic method comes to your rescue. Simply adhere to the following ayurvedic tips and experience good health even during winters.
Drink ginger tea
Ginger is often referred as a miracle herb that consists of a number of therapeutic properties. Simply add ginger to your everyday tea. It is advisable to use little or no sugar while preparing it. Ginger tea helps to keep the body warm and also prevents common cold and cough.
Massage with aromatherapy oils
During winters the body goes under contracted mode. Hence, applying essential oils over the body will help to release contraction in the muscles. Some of the popular oils for body massage are lavender, rose, jasmine, peppermint and bergamot.
Light eucalyptus oil
Lighting some fresh eucalyptus oils in your room will help in breathing. So, if there is any type of congestion in your chest or throat, this oil removes such blocking and provides immediate relief.
Avoid sleeping during afternoon
Ayurveda says that it is not healthy to sleep during afternoon in winters as it makes the body all the more sluggish. Make sure that your body receives enough sleep for about 6-8 hours during the night. Also, don?t oversleep.
Engage in outdoor activities
Sunlight is one of the essentials that provide natural energies to the body. You need to ensure that your body receives sunlight on a daily basis. For this, you need to go out and indulge in outdoor activities like nature walk, gardening, sun gazing and so on.
Watch what you eat
During cold weather opt for food preparations that contain butter, sugar, ghee or clarified butter and sugarcane. You can also include stewed vegetables, oatmeal, cooked rice and soups in your daily diet. Such food provides overall warmth to the body.
For snacks, it is recommended to chew on nuts such as walnuts, almonds, cashew nuts and pistachios. Nuts form a great diet supplement during winters,
