Mar 17, 2016: The Ayush Ministry has started a programme with an aim to club together ayurveda, homeopathy and Unani with the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular diseases and Stroke or NPCDCS.
The state minister for Ayush Shripad Yesso Naik said that the launch of this programme has been done through Ministry’s three research organisations; Central Council for Research in Unani medicine, Central Council of Research in Ayurveda Sciences and Central Council for Research in Homeopathy.
Naik added that the main purpose of the programme is to prevent and detect early signs of diseases such as diabetes, cancer and heart issues. The programme is also focused on reducing problems and drug-dependency while promoting capacity-building for human resources development.
The programme has started off in Lakhimpur Kheri (UP), Darjeeling( West Bengal), Surendranagar (Gujarat), Krishna ( Andhra Pradesh) and Bhilwara (Rajasthan), Naik informed.
On further enquiry, the minister said that the Ministry has constituted a task force to endorse AYUSH system in India. He said that the task force recommended the constitution of a National Board for Promotion and Development of Yoga and Naturopathy under the Chairmanship of Secretary (AYUSH).
It is aimed towards enhancing the quality of education, training, therapy and research, build up human resource in Yoga and Naturopathy.
