Ayurveda is very beneficial in treating hair problems

By Dr Raksha

Nov 30, 2017: It’s a myth that oil nourishes the hair. It only helps in massaging the scalp and enhancing blood circulation. Lack of movement and blood circulation is the main reason for most of the hair problems.

Each of my patients has a different but common problem, and all want assurance from me. The first thing I do is to pep up their confidence. The stigma can be unbearable.

Over 50% of men by age 50 have male pattern hair loss

Common hair problems

Hair loss, thinning of hair, pre-mature graying and balding are some of the common hair problems that many of us suffer from due to our modern lifestyle, wrong diet and pollution that lead to stress and tension. Ayurveda can be very beneficial in treating these problems as it investigates the root cause of the problem.

Every day, we lose some hair. Our body then replaces it with some new strands as part of the many renewal processes that are built into our body systems. As we age, the reappearance of new hair gradually slows down. This fact is more evident in men than women, whose ?male-pattern? baldness is genetically determined and can begin as early as age 20. For women, hair normally thins after age 50.

Excess of pitta dosha in the body is the main cause of hair problems. Pitta is increased by excessive intake of tea, coffee, alcohol, meat and excessive smoking. Pitta is also aggravated by eating too much fried, oily, greasy, spicy, sour, and acidic foods.
Intake of too many chemical medicines, low blood circulation, anemia, general weakness after disease, stress, anxiety, and mental tension are also prime causes of hair loss.
Chronic diseases like typhoid fever, presence of dandruff or lice and hormonal imbalance also cause hair loss.
So watch out carefully for these reasons! You may be overdoing one of them, and thus losing your beautiful hair.

The main cause for all hair problems is lack of movement, lack of blood circulation and lack of scalp exercises.

In 1975 my brother went to Canada and started having hair falling problems. He requested me to research on hair falling and find out solutions. That was the turning point in my life. I took it up as a challenge and started researching. I found it so interesting; the area was vast. I went to secluded places in search of herbs. The villagers helped me a lot. They helped me find new places where herbs grow. I went into remote jungles with the villagers who protected me with their weapons.

Green leafy vegetables, salads, milk, fruits and sprouts. Take more proteins, milk, buttermilk, yeast, wheat germ, soybean and vitamin A.

Way back in 1980, I made my first herbal product?hair oil. Later I made a hair cream for quick growth of hair. Earlier, the hair oil was thick and too greasy. It penetrated less into the scalp. I purified it further and made a new hair oil. The research went on and I discovered new herbs, new formulas and made new products. Today our products and treatments guarantee 100% result. And the best thing, there is no side-effects of any of the products.

I tried to test these medicines on my neighbours and relatives. They were all scared of losing hair. So I tested them on myself. In 1984, the family who make Hero Honda scooters were our neighbours in Chandigarh. They tried my hair oil and got tremendous result. That gave me hope and confidence.

Since 1995, we started manufacturing herbal medicines exclusively for hair care for all age group. These hair care products treat bald scalp, falling of hair, thinning of hair, patchy baldness, dandruff, itching and scaling. We can treat any type of hair problems and regrow hair on any type of skin.

If you take care of hair problems at the early stage, it takes less time to arrest the problem. But if you are bald for years, it will definitely take months and sometimes years to regain the lost hair. I have a patient who came with her mother when she was a small girl. She had just 2/3 hairs on her head. Her scalp was bent inside like a slope. She started regaining hair all over her head soon after the treatment, except the portion that was bent inside. It took me 10 long years to treat that portion. I first raised the level to normal scalp level and then gave medicines for hair growth. Today, the girl has normal hair and works in a call centre. And all this was done through herbs.

I tell people to take out 10-15 mins from their busy schedule to massage the head. If they have no time for that they can even comb and brush the hair several times a day. That will help blood circulation and stop hair falling. Of course, balanced diet also plays a good role in hair growth. Food rich in iodine is good for the hair. Hence, people of some region have better hair than others.
