What to do when laziness hampers enthusiasm?

By TNT Bureau

Nov 23, 2015: We all get enthusiastic when starting something new as exercising or dieting, studying a new subject, practicing personality improvement programs and so on. However, after sometime laziness sets in and then all the excitement vanishes into thin air.

In the words of Gordon Parks, ?Enthusiasm is the electricity of life. How do you get it? You act enthusiastic until you make it a habit.”Consistency is the key here and if you don?t practise on a daily basis, you can?t get hold of desired results.

The possible reasons

Let us analyze as to why people undergo lack of motivation and willpower. First and foremost, we lack patience. For instance, you start off with a self-discipline program such as yoga for few days but then, you have a feeling that it isn?t helping you. As a result, you abort the program and give it up as a whole. In such cases, people feel that whatever they have undertaken is nothing more than a burden that needs to be eliminated right away.

Secondly, negativity tends to rule us. This often happens when people around you start commenting on your new approach. Some even make fun. These all result in reduction of your motivational skills and inner strength that makes you doubtful about yourself.

Remember that everything in life doesn?t come easy. Honest dedication, strong will-power and continuous effort are needed for spiritual realization and self-improvement.

The remedies

Simply reading a book or an article on self- discipline approaches and trying it out only for a short period of time is mere wastage of time. In order to keep your enthusiasm alive and going, follow the given tips.

  • Get into the habit of reading for at least 10 minutes each day and think about what you want to accomplish.
  • Get inspiration by reading about people who gained success through consistency and hard-work. Practise it daily.
  • Find a peaceful place and imagine yourself acting with motivation and enthusiasm. This should be done on a daily basis.
  • Success is driven by motivation, dedication and time and hence, there is no need to hurry. Have patience and everything will fall into place. Don?t give up easily and always refrain from negativity.

By concentrating on a program for a long period of time without worrying about the immediacy of results will render sweet success.
